101 Ranch Ruins

Colonel George W. Miller located the 101 Ranch headquarters near the Salt Fork River where his son, Joe Miller, staked a claim in the Cherokee Strip Land Run.  By the turn of the century, G. W. and his sons, Joe, George and Zack, built the 101 into the largest diversified farm and ranch in the United States.  It encompassed three towns and more than 110,000 acres stretching across four counties.  Its 101 Ranch Wild West Shows traveled worldwide, featuring cowboys, cowgirls, Native Americans, exotic animals, trick ropers and target shooters.

Sadly, the empire failed in 1932 due to the tragic deaths of two of the three Miller brothers, insurmountable debt and the onset of the Great Depression.  The remaining acreage is a U.S. Park Service National Historical Landmark on the Federal Register of Historic Places.  It is open year round from dawn to dusk.
